I am about to service my 1979 C6 transmission and was wondering which fuild to use. I've been told a few differnt types and was wondering what type other people use in their C6.

Sorry about that! I did not tab down far enough to see a transmission board. I went with the big block board because I have a 460.

Now, if you want some good firm shifts and less slippage in the slushbox. Put type F in it like they came with in the 60's and early 70's.

Plus, your dipstick probably has the fluid type embossed on it.

 

The transmission dipstick will tell you which type of fluid to use. Be sure to drain the converter, also. It has a drain plug on the flywheel side.
