The defroster WILL work, as will the heater, but it will not dehumidify in the defrost mode when the A/C is broke. Sometimes the A/C doesn't work due to defective controls (which could kill the defrost/vent/heat as well), but it's usually a leak or a bad compressor.

yeah pep boys told me they will change my freon too the new a/c setup after its 70 degrees outside, then i asked about the heater, and he said , yes the heater works still.... so thats all.
