Okay now I got a new code- P0603 Internal Ctrl Mod KAM Error. Anybody know what that is???? Truck won't even start now! I pulled the codes, cleared them, tried starting it with tuner in performance mode, ran like crap. Same code came up again, cleared it. Then returned to stock mode.....tried to start it, NOPE! Wouldn't start and Acts like it's not getting any fuel now! I just changed my CPS two days ago by the way, not sure yet if it's related.
0603 shouldn't keep the truck from starting. Your not having good luck right now. Have you tried changing everything back to stock & removing the tuner?
Possible causes:
battery or PCM has been disconnected.
battery cables loose or poor connection.
battery discharged.
open in KAPWR circuit.
blown fuse.
PCM.
Yes......removed everything and returned to stock, and it wouldn't start at all. I'm getting good power from batteries because it's attempting to crank easily. I don't know what the KAPWR is......what is that code that I"m getting? I have no clue
Put your old cps back in and see if it clears code. Ford has had my truck for 2 months. Ran fine no codes, they put in recall cps, and are trying to figure out why it is coding with new senser. It codes misfire on injecter 8. new sensor new loom new computer they even put a new cam in it. something is wrong and ford does not know what it is, and they are not saying squat.
If you've been changing tunes in the PCM, then it's probably just the PCM reset throwing that code. I got the same code recently from disconnecting and cleaning my battery cables one at at time.
You've got something else going on. It doesn't make sense it would start in performance mode but not in stock. Can you explain running like crap a little better? Any other dash lights come on with it running bad?

I had to change the old one because it went bad after I ran out of fuel.....I have the new and updated recall CPS in the truck now. I'm just hoping my problem isn't PCM related! I think it might be going to the dealer on this one if it keeps happening

It won't start whether it's in stock mode, or tow or hi-performance now. It just cranked and cranked but never tried to fire. The order of events went like this. I went out to start it, it started up, but ran crappy-this is with tuner installed in hi-perf, pulled codes an cleared them, tried to start again in hi-perf, nuthin. Then pulled codes, cleared them, removed tune completely to stock, tried to start again.....nuthin. I stopped trying because the batteries will get run down eventually, but they are good right now. I'm gonna throw the charger on them overnight to be safe though.
You got any friends with a PSD you could try swapping PCM's with? Maybe someone from the local chapter. It might also be worth finding someone with a scanner other than the Superchip to see if anything else shows up.
There's a mechanic who worked for Ford for 20+ years that is on his own now......I might take it to him on monday. Truck is charging for the night and it's like 15 degrees. I'm done for the night...Thanks for you help Chris!!!!
I think you will always get that code when you use a tuner. Did you check your fuel pressure and filter, since you ran her dry not to long ago could have pulled some crap loose in the tank. Are you getting any smoke ?
Before you take it to a shop, make sure it is getting fuel. If it is cranking but won't start, and it is injecting fuel, you ought to be able to tell out the tailpipe just by the smell or smoke. Check it out. No fuel = no start as we all know.
Edit: Also, check the fuel heater fuse which the PCM runs off of too, #30 I believe. Look in your owner's manual.
Bad news.....fuel pump is toast! Part is $400 and $200 to install......major bummer! I need it fixed right away though, it's snowing here AGAIN and my commuter car is a Mustang...not the best in the snow.
Truck running good again now, $642.94 later OUCH. I had the original fuel pump in it still....and I've got a bit over 160,000 on the truck, I guess that's not so bad for a fuel pump, but still sucks to pay money out! Wanna play....gotta pay!
