Hey guys, just picked up an 04 Mounty, looked and looked but I cant seem to find info on the "fog light mod" to keep the fogs on with the high beams. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Dumb question, maybe...........why would you want to run your high beams if the weather is bad enough to use the foggies? Seems like you'd get some serious back-scatter.

Steve
with this mod you would be able to run your fogs anytime that your parking lights are on not with just your low beams. they could be on without your headlights on at all or with your high or low beams. I personally did not like the fogs turning off and on all the time, that causes premature bulb failure.
I like the fogs on with the highs they fill in the darker area directly in front of the truck on country roads.
the relay was located under the air-cleaner find the right relay buy pulling it with the lights on when off you have the right one. cut the DB/LG wire as far away as you can cap and tape the end in the harness. I used a wire tap to connect to the brown wire going to the parking lamps( it is in the harness running from the lights behind the radiator) that's it
if you want them on all the time you need to find a constant 12 volt source(battery)

everything still works on relays it's just a matter of finding out where they are and how they are wired mine was pretty simple but ford in it's infinite wisdom changes things every year. we just need somebody with a little patience to do the first one when it's unknown
I didn't get to try it out on my '98 yesterday, weather went bad. My grille guard came in today, so I'm going to be going to the garage to install it tommorow, will do the fog light mod as well.
On edit:
Anyone know for SURE how to do this on a '98 Explorer...that forum had so many different ways of doing it, trying to find wires here and there.
I want the fog lights to be available with my parking lights and low beams, as well as always on with the high beams. Anyone know for sure how to do that?

looks like a 98 is the same as a 97 everything I've found tells me the change happened in 99 or part way through the 98/99 model year so a 98 could have 99 parts or a 99 could have 98 parts
Alright Hazmat...I'll be giving it a shot this weekend (I know I keep pushing it back. I put the grille guard on the truck today and after getting it on I was already rushing).
I'll be sure to let ya'll know how it goes on my May '98 Explorer. I'll be in there anyways since one of the fog bulbs is apparently burned out.
