Hello,
I just bought a 2000 F350 4x4, diesel of course. I want to start off by getting an exhaust, cold air intake, and a tuner. Just wanted to know which combination would be the best. My goals are of course increased performance and improved gas mileages. Any help is appreciated...Thank you
first thing would probably be the air intake do the 6637 mod for cheap..homemade ari filter system and has great filtration then exhaust but before the chip or programmer it is a very good idea/ must to get gauges to monitor what your engine is doing
Welcome to FTE! You'll love it here. I'm new too and trying to figure everything out. Definitely go with a DP Tuner from Jody http://www.itpdiesel.com/store.php?c...on=show_detail That's there link. I don't have one but it's coming soon (If UPS would hurry up) They can build you a performance package if you click on the 99-03 7.3 link. It's good to see everyone is getting the diesel bug now.
WOW! wish i had read kris's post before i started modding on my own. For being 6 months older than me, he's borderline genious and knows what he's talking about... powerstroke26 listen to him
Changing the air, exhaust & putting in a tuner is going to effect your exhaust temps. I would start with gauges first so you don't cook your turbo bearings when you shut down. I like my AIS intake and put in a 4" turbo back stainless steel performance exhaust system. I am looking at doing a tuner later this year and am looking at going to DTS as they are fairly local and offered a real good installed price with 3 programs and a display to see codes.
...4th, start a savings for the tranny upgrades (VB, TC). Some would suggest the valve body upgrade before the chip in order to protect the tranny.
Welcome to TFE and enjoy your new addiction!
I would be one that suggests spending the money on the VB before the chip. Yes, it is an additional $225 out of the box (BTS or John Wood That is your call. They are the same money.) but you won't have to waste money (and drive your truck stock) later sending the chip back to get reflashed. Plus, it is cheap tranny insurance.
I also say, Welcome to TFE and enjoy your new addiction! I was the guy who came in and said I will only do "the big three." Well...now I have a valve body, full set of gauges, no intake , stuff to do intanks and CCV, GPR LED, looking into 05 headlights, 08 tailgate...it just keeps going My wife loves this site!!!

When i bought my truck, it was bone stock. I told myself i would tint the windows, and do a leveling kit, and that would be it. Several thousands later i'm in too deep to stop now. I still haven't tinted the windows so i can't say i'm done yet.
