Differential Oil

Need some advice on changing both the front and rear differential oil on my 96' F250 PSD 4x4. The owners manual says to use 80W90. My local mechanic said to use 75W 140 synthetic. There is only one metal tag on the rear differential, top right side, not sure if its limited slip or not, the tag didn't say.

1. What oil should I use in the rear differential?
2. Should use a friction modifier on the rear?
3. What oil for the front differential?
4. Should I use a friction modifier on the front?

75w140 Syn. in the rear. Add friction modifier if you have limited slip..even though the fluid comes with it add it anyway.

80w90 in the front, no friction modifer needed, it's an open carrier...unless someone added a LS.

Just looked at the door jamb, on the bottom of the label, directly under the word "axle" it had a 35, thats all. Did I look in the right place? What does the 35 mean?
