i was wondering who has a mid-low 13sec powerstroke?? im looking for a mid to low 13sec daily driver, i have a chip, intake and exhaust now and i have never run it but im expecting a high 15 to low 16? but i was thinking with injectors, and upgraded turbo and some nitrous maybe methanol as well that i could hit 13s, let me know what yall think, i need someone tech tips from a fast psd, thanks guys
Remove the 35's, and about 15K of engine work and you'll be there. Head studs, billet rods, main girdle, valve springs and pushrods, big oil, b code injectors, very large turbo, or two turbos, built transmission and a host of other parts should get you close to the 600hp you'd need to get into the low 13's on a lifted truck. It doesnt take "too much" to get into the 13.9x's, but it takes several thousand more to get one more second.
damn, well you think i could hit low 14s to high 13s with all the stuff i added without pulling the motor?? im never going to run the truck at a track im morely looking for a roll truck just to mess with ppl on the street evey now and then, my chip is on the fly and i always drive around with it on tow program and rarley turn it on extreme, im just looking to be able to mess around with a chipped out cummins or d-max from a roll when i turn the chip on extreme and maybe some nx and methanol so the motor doesnt get beat too badly
Nope, you'll barely get into the 14's before you blow the engine. The 2001s 02s and 03s all have Powdered metal rods and they dont withstand much over or near 400hp. Which means stage one injectors and Big Oil is pushing it. I'm plagued with those as well and the only way for me to get into the low 13's is to get rid of them. Better take a look at Blackwidowdiesel.com and call Kevin on monday, tell him Kris from MD sent ya.
ok so if i pulled the motor apart i could get away with just doing rods with those mods?? i dont nor in the future dont plan on making a 10-12sec truck form a digh so could i get away with just rods for the internals??
Nope, you need rods, headstuds, valvesprings, maybe you could get away without a girdle, but if it were my engine and already taken apart, I'd go ahead with one.
Sorry, modding these trucks isn't cheap. If you want cheap power, get a 12v Cummins. That's rediculously cheap compared to our engines.
k ill do tht then lol, i just want something tht would keep up on the street with a chipped cummins or somehting but i dont think its worth to spend $10,000 just on my motor lol
Get an Audi S4 and put a couple of bigger turbos, a chip and gut the cats.
Three intake valves, two exhaust, variable valve timing on a 2.7 V6 Quattro will be hard to beat.
They make so much power that the transmission body is made of cast iron.
That's the btch about owning a 7.3. Gotta dish out the $$ if you wanna go fast.
That seems to go with Ford in general
Back in my racing days I ran Ford and Mopar, and when I complained about parts cost my buddies alway told me if you want to go fast cheap build a Chev and even once considered putting a 454 in a truck but this would look funny /==[FORD]==/
Here is an example of what you can do without tearing the motor apart-how long it will last with PMR's is a guess-but timing was limited. This truck dynoed 437 HP and 1k torque and is still alive today. Not a huge lift, but 35s.
