more tuning??

Hey ford fans, hope everyone is healthy and well. I just installed my edl rpm intake and 670 Holley street avenger, on my 390, 68 ford 3/4 truck. I have some confusion though, i did not check the timing before i tore into it, so i don't know where it was. As i have read non emissions should be at 10* emissions at 6*, is that right?. I can't read the numbers or the lines on the balancer very well, the balancer is rusty it is hard to tell where 10* is. Any advice on this?.

Yeah, clean it up(wire brush/solvent).. the use a wax pencil or ? to fill the grooves and a rigid instrument to clean up the surface leaving the wax in the marks. Then make use of the timing light/tach/vac gauge (Say that like I actually know what I'm talking about)

"oh" you mean the balancer, thought you meant the carb. So is it 10* with no emissions, at btdc????

I'd put it at 10deg. As long as it doesn't knock/rattle under acceleration you're fine.

You don't have to have emission check do you? Not that the timing would make much any difference.
