Well I just ordered a gal. of this stuff http://www.opti-lube.com/dfi.htm. I tried the power service. Then I saw that study.I didnt like the results of that. With power service at number ten.So I decided to try the 2cycle oil+power sevice mix.I dont like two things of this. One being the mixing of the two.Feel like a chemist in my shop. Two,I dont like the thik concistancy of the 2 cycle oil.Just seems real thick stuff to be pouring into my lines and such.So here i go with this stuff.I think its #4 on the test. With a 3000:1 ratio. So its pretty cheap.$64 got it shiped to my house. And it treats 3000 galons.I'll let you know what I think of it after I run it for a while. Not that I'm some kind of expert or anything.
im running the XPD stuff right now, ran through my first tank today, runs smooth and starts really really fast now, im talking like right now. Never used to be like that when i was running stanadyne performance
Yea its that new XPD stuff, your supposed to mix this stuff kinda stiff, 1/4 to 1/2 oz per gallon. Im going on a 150 mile road trip this weekend so i'll see if it helps with mpg's. Im also replacing my EBP sensor and that tube, might make a difference?
XPD is what finished way high in that test. It's mix ratio is something like 256:1, which makes it more expensive per tankfull than ponying up the extra dime for biodiesel. I don't remember now if the summer formula was even tested.
Main difference between the summer and winter blends of the XPD seems to be the dosage rates (less in winter with nearly same results). I've already run through a half-gallon of the summer blend while running B20, and am getting ready to run through a half gallon of the winter blend.
I got better mileage with the Diesel Kleen in comparison to either the XPD Summer or Stanadyne Performance Formula, but I really like the smooth running nature of the engine on this B20. Shoot, I'm probably not getting much benefit from the XPD while running B20, but I like belts and suspenders.
well i didnt hand calculate my mileage from my trip cuz i didnt make it to teh station yet, but heres what i got so far. my trip is about 150 miles each way. On the way out I used a 1/2 tank, not good. On the way back it was significantly warmer and it only used a 1/4 tank for 150 miles??? no idea what happened but on teh way home i was blessed by the mpg gods or something.
You must have calculated wrong there.I'm not really looking to get better mileage from it anyway.I'm moore looking for the lubricity factor of it.Not to mention ease of use.But thanks for your return info.
oops my bad. I was thinkin this was another thread. Truck does seem to run a little better with the XPD over teh stanadyne though. better product i think, just a bit more in price
