What is Averege miles per gallon on a carbed 460?

 

Depends a lot on the rear gear ratio and whether you have an OD trans. My 1984 F250 Super cab Super Duty with C-6 (no overdrive) and a 4.10 rear end (great tow gear but not much of and mpg gear), got 6.5 to 8.0 mpg empty or towing when stock. Since then have added a 3" exhaust, a carb swap and a distributor recurve and now gets 10.0 to 10.5 empty and 9.5 mpg towing the quad trailer (dual axle 4 big quads) or the boat and 7.5 to 9.5 mpg with the 13 foot camp (3300 pounds dry weight) on board.

 

when my 71 had a stock 460 and 3:23 gears with a lite baby foot on the pedal i used to get around 15-17 mpg's now whith every thing ive done to it with the 3:89 gear she's at about 9mpg
