"running" diagnostic kills engine

"running" diagnostic kills engine
My engine, which seemingly runs well, dies about 10 seconds into the OBD "running" mode diagnostic test. Anyone know what could cause that?

31 - The EVAP below minimum voltage.
I am going to fix/replace that, but I don't think that would kill the engine.
There was another code, but I am pretty sure those were a result of the engine being stopped. The code was related to not enough throttle change during some test.
