truck engine swap

i've got a 97 f250 with the 4.6L .. wondering if the same motor from a 97 crown vic will work?? or is there any other motors that will???my truck is a 4x4 and automatic..

It will not be a direct bolt in, not to mention you will lose a good 10-20hp with a CV engine. Mustang engines are also close but not a direct drop in either. Mustangs over '99 will have PI heads/intakes as will CV's from '01 and up and F150's from '99/'00+.

so my best deal is to get a motor out of a truck??

yes '97 and '98 will bolt in and '99+ will be darn close to bolting in and have another 20hp or so.
