Junior calls me from college yesterday, says his buddies 99 F-150 sounds like the starter won't disengage for about 30 seconds or so AFTER it is running. Only does it when -15 below or colder. Told him to make sure key is popping back to the "run" setting, other than that drive it back home. They got back last night, I took a look, can't get it to do it again. Solenoid hangs up in the extreme cold? None of my Fords have ever done that. You guys got any input? ( I told him to go to college in like Arizona, we would "gladly" come and visit, AND no cold related vehicle troubles)

Sounds like he needs a new starter Spotty, sounds more like a sticky armature.

 

Yeah, that's kinda' what I'm thinking, probably not an electrical deal. Weird things happen in severe cold, many just kinda' "disappear" when the temps get above 0 degrees again.
