I was talkin to my local exhaust shop guy and he said that he could take my rear 2 cats off for around 100 bucks and said that if i didnt like it he could weld everything back up to the oringal places. I just didnt know if anyone had experience with taking the cats off
well i have straight pipes right now so i was thinking of taking them off and throwing some glass packs or something on? Because taking them 2 cats off and running straight pipes i think it would sound like crap but i could be wrong

You have straight pipes from the cats back, no can? I replaced just the factory can with a flowmaster 40 and it sounds pretty good but a little quiet for my taste.
yeah you could take your cats off they dont do much but depending on where you live if there are rules about fiddling with emmisions you could get a fine if caught but when you take em off it just gives it more sound doesnt do anything to mpg or power
If you cut off the back two cats, and turn it into true duals... does that help with mpg or power? Or just sound? Also does anyone have any input on an X-pipe? Just curious
The first two cats on each side are high flow cats, the rear two are just two more useless cats that restrict a little flow and a lot of sound. It's up to you if you want to take them off, it will make the truck louder, but you will not notice any improvement in power, b/c it would be so small. So if the extra sound is worth $100 to you, then go for it.
If you remove the muff and run straight pipes, doesn't that hurt the performance. I'm thinkin the backpressure from the muffler will give better midrange power. Or am I thinkin a**-backwards?
