How small is your town

Our major fast food joints are Dairy Queen, A&W, and a new Quizno's. We have 4 gas stations. We have one pub but I think another on the way. Major shopping is at Fields. Groceries would be a small Overwaiti (however you spell it). No theater. Small Irly Bird and even smaller Home Hardware. Soon to have only one doctor who is I think 68. Oh one nice thing no traffic lights.

I have had people stop me on the sidewalk and ask where is Tim Hortons. I just point and say a little over an hour that way.

While it may be a little difficult to get things here I do like living in a small town.

Don't let me 'raz' you about living in a small town, Zip! Lately, living in Vancouver isn't as wonderful as some people pretend! True, we may have more services etc., but we have more problems too.

I lived in Newton when I was a kid. For awhile in a trailer park along the King George. There was a drive-in across the street. Then on 68th ave. The whole area from there to Vancouver is built up. It's unreal every time I get down there something else has changed. Vancouver is a beautiful city but it is getting a little scary.

I just love sitting on the freeway and not moving.

I grew up in Nanoose, we had to "walk 8.2 kilometers" or ride our bikes into Parksville (no transit service at that time). Nanoose had a gas station, and a pub. For us the Marina had the only General Store in my area, and it closed at 6pm Mon to Thurs, 10pm on Fri & Sat and they were closed on Sundays.

Ahhh the good old days..

Right now I live close to saskatoon, 300 thousand ish maybe? 250 thousand? Something like that for population. The town I grew up in was about 4000 people. For the longest time we only had a dairy queen and a KFC.

We don't even have a KFC. I think we have a population of between 2,000 and 3,000.

Here I thought everywhere had a kfc. Seems like dq's are all over though. Is the dq a popular coffee spot there?

No I think for alot of people (the old guys at least) the A&W. Also a place called Cowboy Coffee is popular I think. I think your right DQ seems to be in just about every small town.

I work in a town (Bella Bella) that is only accessed by ferry or plane. They have 2 general stores, and a cafe. There are no fast food joints and to get any fresh vegys or fruit you have to hit the stores the day after they come in on the barge. or wait until next week. There is about 1000 people here. Oh yeah and it rains 6 days a week.

Years ago we drove through Tweedsmuirs Nat Park and took the ferry to Ocean Falls and BellaBella down to Port Hardy - fabulous family trip. I remember a porcupine asleep near the ferry landing and yes, it was raining. Met the mayor of Ocean Falls as well as the Batman who gave us a tour of a great old abandoned house (with bats in the attic of course). There was a little cafe, near the ferry terminal, run by an old lady - good coffee. Didn't go ashore at Bella Bella because it was dark. We were obviously impressed by the beauty of the area and its isolation. Would love to go back in the other direction if the ferry is still running (or was it the one that sank?)

PS. Has nobody bought Ocean falls yet?

Revelstoke has a pop. of about 8000.Tim Hortons,McyD's,A&W,Denny's.A couple coffee shop's.4 or 5 pub's.The nice thing about small town's is there isn't a ton of places to spend money because of the conveience. The bad thing is the price of everything you need to buy,and the availability of it.

It's a nice town. Been to the McyD's and the local Lordco. Needed a blower motor. They didn't have one. Housing prices are going crazy there arent they?

I know what your saying about prices, we have the same thing here.

I always tell people that if you can't get it at Fields you don't need it.
