Casting numbers
OK a guy gave me a ford block with crank journals (no crank pistons etc)
Anyway we found the numbers on it and i was wondering if you guys could help me determine if this is a 460 block.
This number was down towards the bottom of the block
D3TE - (1973 Truck engine?)
These numbers were up above the d3te near the deck
5628 (or 5028 - hard to read)
105
we are hoping to build this motor up and put it in a v-drive boat.
someone told me that you cant bore engines going into boats as much as car engines - is this true and are there any other bits of advice you can give me, thanks!!

D3 (1973) is all you need to be concerned with. .060 overbore is no problem with most blocks, and you can go up to .120. For anything beyond .060, I suggest you have the cylinder walls checked by a shop that can run the sonic test I can't think of the name that checks cylinder wall castings for shift.
