installing sts turbo on my 05 f-350. Was going to do nitrous but didnt make much sense when thought about it. Dont want to run much boost probly bout 5lbs. Talked to local performance shop and we are going to do a very conservitive tune, hpefully I can run mid-grade gasoline if not 87.
sounds like a very promising build,Please do keep us posted on your trucks progress and if possible, tons and tons of pics :-) I'am pretty sure you could run it on 93 with out a tune at only 5 psi, but why not take on the full petencail of the upgrade ;-)
Two things. First, you absolutely can not "run it on 93 with out a tune at only 5 psi." That is unless want to clean up what's left of your engine with a sponge. Second, if you're going to the expense of installing a turbo and properly tuning it you should not skimp on the fuel. The truck will never run to its potential on 87, you need 93. If an extra $0.20 per gallon is that big of a concern you may want to rethink this project before you even get started.
I agree with the last post 100%! Do NOT run on 87 octane fuel! If you're gonna invest a lot of $$$$$$ in such a project, spend the extra few cents per gallon for 91-93 octane fuel. Let everyone here know what type of horsepower&torque at the rear wheels you are making when you complete the project. I've often wondered what numbers a supercharged, or turbo V10 3-valve engine would make.
