I have heard of guys using those up here but I have not seen them sold before. We have several batteries at hunting camp but solar and the cold raises hell with them. Our charger has a thermistor that mounts on the battery to sense actual battery temp, it then over charges to get temp back up. I think they freeze well below zero. The key is to make sure the deep cycles are topped off with distilled water in my case.
Just a thought.....How about those little heating pads like you would use on a sore shoulder etc.? You could loosen battery insulation if you have any, lay the pad(s) against the side of the batteries, plug in, and adjust the temp. Item(s) such as a plastic bag over all of it might be an option. Like I stated, just a thought.
Most marine supply stores will have them. You can get the blanket that wraps around the battery or a tray it sits on. The trays work fine, but the blanket is a better all year round insulator. I ordered one from Carquest about 12yrs ago, and I'll bet Napa can get one too.
Thanks for the compliment! The way I came up, if ya' didn't have what ya' needed, ya' made do with what ya' had! A cost comparison would be interesting though. If you would, please come back and post what you ended up doing, if anything. It will be interesting.
Ha, it might end up being one of those, "if anything" moments for me again. Just not enough cash to do everything I want or need to do, like get a bts vb and a dp!!!
