That is a nice feature. Good automatic transmissions from many other makers do the same thing, makes you wonder why no one though of it sooner.

The 6 speed in the Tundra does the same thing, even going down long grades (which we have plenty of around my part of the country) the tranny will downshift to hold a speed when the cruise is on. I can also manually select the gear I wish to be in, but so far the transmission control unit is pretty much Jonny-on-the-sopt and I don't feel the need to.

Remember, I feel safer in a Ford..I can not trust a Tundra

I feel safe in just about anything. Toyotas haven't let me down yet, and neither have Ford truck/truck based vehicles. Ford cars on the otherhand.... not so good a history for me and my family.

The tranny in my 97 Jetta does it also. Felt wierd the first time i drove it. I was used to coasting in OD in the Superduty.

The Allison does this as well. But I do know guys that really hate this in the winter.
