Limited slip front

Does anyone know if Ford ever put limited slip in the Front axle of a 4x4 from the factory.

IIRC a front limited slip was only ever an option on the bronco 2.

They could be ordered with them. Look at your axle code, if it has an "X" you have a LS front axle.

an open axle is a number, like 19. LS rear, open front would be H9, LS front open rear would be X19 and LS front and rear would be XH9.

My 1980 had a limited slip in the front too. I tell you one thing though, it made for some weird handling in the snow. I could steer the rear of the truck with the steering wheel. The front would stay planted, and the back end would go back and forth when I moved the steering wheel. It also would not turn in the snow unless you almost came to a complete stop.

Shoot, i'm sorry. i reread my post from last night and don't know what I was thinking. I must've had super cab on my mind since that's X prefix in the GVW code.

Anyway here's how it breaks down:

a suffix of "2" is front LS.

so 19 is open, H9 is LS rear, 192 is open rear LS front (if that was even available?) and H92 is LS front and rear.

Really, wow. I read somewhere ford only offered a front LS in the bronco 2 and not in the full size trucks. I guess I learned something new.
