Well with the four-banger it's not gonna be fast, but yeah, it'll pull that. It'll even be acceptable to do it with just the bumper and not a weight-distributing hitch (though I always recommend one).

Your owners manual will contain the detailed charts for engine/tranny/rear gearing specific towing weights, and it'll probably spec some unrealistically low number for the 2.3L/manual combo to keep Ford from having to replace clutches because people couldn't drive a manual while towing. If you can handle the clutch pedal just fine, have no fears.

Welcome to FTE.

I see your in BC, so if your going to be tugging in the mountains, or for long high speed tows, be sure to follow your owners manual towing instructions closely.

Seeing as how your going to be working your engine pretty hard & if you'll be tugging in the mountains, or for long high speed tows, maybe consider opting for a good synthetic crankcase lube, that can take the heat & high engine rpm's you'll be giving it.

Don't know if you opted for the "payload, package-2, or a tow package, but both of those might be worth considering, as they will improve handeling, with that much tongue weight on a light truck.
Your Dealer should be able to order & or install them, if you choose to add them.

I also opted for the class-3 factory frame mounted hitch & bought a "cushioned ball mount", by "Convert-A-Ball", at my local farm supply store, it'll realy round off the jerks & jars to the drive line while towing & your driveline & you, sure will appreciate that!!!!

With the tow & payload packages & a cushioned ball mount, my towing in the mountains & control on the highway have been plesant!!!!

Be sure to keep you tires aired up!!!!

Just some more thoughts for pondering.

Yeah it'll pull that. I'd at least get a class 3 receiver though, no need to bend a bumper.

On a side note, where did you find that? My wife and I have been looking for a lightweight tent trailer for months. She keeps getting sucked in to the big and heavy 4000 pound ones.

You will be fine, and get good mpg while towing to boot.

I have a 1999 supercab with the less powerful 2.5L 5speed and i pull a 12' starcraft tent camper with a slide out dinnette and roof air. The camper has been weighed at 3000 lbs. I tow at no more than 65 mph for safety and get 18-19 mpg towing.

Thumbs up

I own a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 3.0L and I have pulled a 750lb trailer with two 1000lb commercial zero turns. Your truck being new,it should pull it with no problem.
