I have a 8.8 with 3.08 open right now.. i have the 300 6 cyl with a 5 spd and 35s.. my questions is: I don't want to change the gears by my self i'll get that done professionaly, but can i add a limited slip? or do you need to set the backlash and stuff like that? Also what gears do you guys recommend i swap out to?
This would suggest 4.56s for your combo which will give you 2276 rpm at 65 in top gear. 1000 rpm to go if you want to out run the troopers, and your lower gears will do well with them I would think. You can plug in your numbers above and figure out your speed in each gear etc.
What year is your truck? The 9 inch means swapping the entire rear axle housing, possibly a modified driveshaft, no VSS which may mean no speedo and no anti-lock brakes. Fix your 8.8.
on edit: I looked at your profile. Is this for your '96 F250? If so, you do not have an 8.8, and the 9 inch won't work at all.
