green handle mistake.
after 10 years of diesel burning i added 7.93 gals. of reg. gas to my PSD. after getting over that sick feeling i topped the truck off with diesel. yes, it was a sm. BP station on the back roads of tenn. waited for truck to start missing and added 4 more gals. of diesel and than 4 gals. 5 gals. 5gals. and truck is still not missing. added one gal. of marvel mystery oil, next stop was 9 gals. of diesel and one more qt. of marvel mystery oil. after 3000 miles i don't see any damage from adding the gas to a PSD. i'm concerned about long term damage.
what does FTE readers see in the future of the engine? give me some input. can i stop worrying?
imo, I would stop worrying. I'm assuming you immediately changed the fuel filters and drained the hfcm? I know how it feels, did it the first time I went to fill it up.
a duramax owner in tok, alaska ran about six miles before he had problems. the next day he went about twenty mile and the truck stopped. he drained the fuel and changed the filters and the truck ran like it never had gas added to the diesel fuel.
he owned a fleet of trackor trailers and the first thing his wife ask did you add gas to the truck and you know his ans. of course not.
had a friend do the same thing added gas to his 6.0 ps and drove 2 miles and truck would not accelerate just idled so he toped off truck with diesel and nothing happened to it dont worry if its running fine youll be alright
I did the same thing with my previous 03 but didn't want to chance it. I towed the truck home with my brothers 7.3, siphoned as much as I could, removed the tank, completely drained the remaining fuel, wiped it out with rags and put everything back together. The unleaded never made it to the fuel lines. I'm glad i'm not the only one that did this, I felt like a major dumb ***. The pump was black but the button was green.
I made a big mistake, I added about 20 gallons of gasoline and the tank holds 30 gallons, I drove about 23 miles and the truck stopped, I towed the truck to the dealer not what i have done, vehicle still under warranty, dealer called me and said that they founf gas in the tank to do the repairs is going to about $9000 and told told them to wait and to give me a detail parts and labor. Do you guys think that this is about the right price? What kind of damage have I done to this engine in 23 miles? Please advise, thank you in advance.

Wow they are trying to ***-rape the hell out of you! Even if you TKO'd the injectors (prob not) it would cost a hell of a lot less than that. The only way I could see it being that much is if you roasted the cylinders and pistons along with the injectors which is most likely not the case.
Your warranty isn't going to help on this one. Hell, you can get a new long block for $4000.
And if it is the case, buy a remaned engine for less than $9000! I would dump tank, purge fuel lines change filters add 10gal of deisel and try it! cant hurt it anymore than the money they are askin!!
Ok men, I am back from the Dealer, Service Manager said that it is very hard to find the damages caused by the gasoline and he knows by experience that some of the sensors are bad because the engine turned off. They are going to pull the codes and check some of the sensors and worse case senario pull engine out engine and inspect bearings. drain and flush two fuel tanks, replace fuel filters and report to me. In other words if they don't do everything my warranty may be void or if there are any other problems the warranty is not going to cover. I will report back to you guys later, I need this truck for work, no truck no work, no money. thank you again. P.S. I still have 40 months left on the warranty.
I would advise you to find a diesel shop in your area and tell them what you did. Have the truck towed to their shop to have corrected. Why would anybody want to pull the engine to inspect the bearings? Sounds like this dealer is out fishing, don't let them set the hook.
