Thanks Jason and Mike. I'm gonna try that pic that Jason had to see if it matches my '02. If so, I think I'll be good to go. I will keep you posted. Thanks for the info. cross your fingers. Now, time to play in the 24 degree heat wave we have!
Brian, did you get it wired yet? Sorry but I had to attend to some things of my own. Let me know if you still want the pics. Camera is charged now and I can go get them.
Not yet Mike. Called the company that supplied me the gauges and he is going to mail me some push pins to replace the other ones since they will get buggered up when I remove them. Was seriously considering your bolt mod as a temporary hold until they came in. Should be next Wednesday that I can do the fix since parts will be here Monday and I work a 48 on Monday/Tuesday. Will keep you posted. You agree with that wire Kris pointed out? Found them all on my truck, just waiting on the push pins. That and those fancy gold-plated $6.33 a piece wheel studs. Ford sure is proud of its merchandise. Saw a 2008 F-450 king ranch at the auto show yesterday. Everything about it looked nice, except for the 6.4 under the hood. LOL and the 64k price tag!!!! Love my 7.3
Cool, it can wait until tomorrow then, I need to throw some pics of the taps in my gallery anyway. Just FYI, the screws used everywhere on HVAC systems are a perfect fit and a lot lower profile.
Well I'm off to fix the my son's leaky toilet. Yay.
Brian, I was emptying my camera card and saw the pic I promised. Oh well. Hope it helps. If not, maybe it will help someone else. I've been kinda busy with my own stuff. Did you get it done yet?
Mike-your timing is perfect. Just got the parts for the wheel in the mail today (I'm stuck at work until tomorrow) and was planning on fixing the gauges tomorrow morning if the snow stops. Your picture has been printed and will be appreciated tomorrow. Nice details on the pic. Thanks!!
Awesome. Just make sure to check the wires for function first as yours is an 02 and I am not up to looking up diagrams tonight. Pretty straight forward.
Okay. The adventure continues. I just re-wired it and it doesn't work!! I used the image that Jason posted in #32. I tested it for ignition power with a AMM and it worked. Power with ignition on, no power with ignition off. I contacted Danin to confirm the wiring schematic and they said blacks and greys to chassis ground, white to illumination, and red to ignition. Well, did all that and here is the story now. I get illumination on my gauges, so that part works. However, trans and EGT do not register. They are still stuck at their last reading. 100* for Trans and 200* for EGT. What is going on here. All I did was open up the pod, cut the red wires that were all spliced together with the whites, rewired the reds to a new wire and ran it down to the ignition source. ARRRRGHHHHHHH!!!!! I may be stupid, but I'd like to think I'm not that stupid.
Okay. I'm not as smart as I thunk I was. Just checked everything again. The new wire to ignition was not snapped down tightly enough on the ignition power wire. All is good and the gauges work great. Thanks everyone for the help and putting up with my ^&*%$
