sheet metal swap candidate
There's a guy selling a 79 f-250 in my area for $500...2wd...351M, 4 spd granny. I'm going to look at it Wednesday hopefully. I was thinking about doing the sheet metal swap from my 66 over to this chasis to get the power disc, steering, etc. I've got a buddythat's a pro. welder that can move the rear axle for me. I was curious of some of the veteran's thoughts on the 351M. I'm hoping I might be able to get it for 350 or 400.

Unless you are building an F250, wait for a better candidate. The F250 frame will work and you can swap in later F150 disk brakes, I Beams and your original differential. You could even use the floor pan and bed bottom if you have the welding skills. But the simplest swap will be to a F150 with the engine you prefer and disk brakes and power steering options.
