has any one ever noticed that if ya go into a court house or other county facility's they wont exept cash? have they not read "for all debts public and private" rite there on the bill? makes ya wonder whats the world coming to if we cant use our own money
Yup,,thats one of my favorite things that make you go,,,,hmmmm,,,When I questioned it once,,,I was told that it was to cut down on theft,,,Hmmm,,,and these people are running our courts? WAZ UP WID DAT!
its probably to cut down on cash and the amount of cash the place is holding to deter robberies.
it may be a court or whatever, but due to the ...lets say "hiring preferences" that the gov does, many of the less than honest types do get hired and will be very tempted to steal the money.
as far as for a paper trail, that is what a receipt is for.
i personannly think it is a bunch of bs, it pretty much forces you to have a bank account, once again the gov helping to support an industry with pointless rules. same with the companies that force you to have your pay direct deposited.
I'm sure if you really raised a stink over it they would take the cash. Especially if you can claim a hardship by not having a checking account. It sounds weird but I know lots of people here at school who only use plastic, pay their bills using an electronic draft, and have their paychecks automatically deposited. I was suprised cause I pay all my utilities with checks, and I don't see how you can get along without them, but apparently I'm a rarity among all the techno-savvy kids around here.
i pay everything online, no checks get written by me except for the rent. works real great for me since i travel frequently and for long periods of time sometimes.
When you set out to rob something, a courthouse isnt exactly at the top of the list i wouldnt think...
A burglar isn't going to knock over a courthouse, but They are probably worried about employees pocketing a few dollars over a span of time.. It has happened..
If they enter that you only paid part of what you owed the books would balance.
You wouldn't know it until they arrest you on outstanding warrants.. Then where is your proof that you paid?
In MA the registry of Motor Vehicles doesn't take cash..I think most state offices only accept checks or credit.
Last time I checked, it was illegal to refuse to accept cash for payment of a debt, so how are they getting away with it? I mean, what would happen if you raised a major fuss about it.
All the tickets I have had to pay, they accept only cash in person (can't mail a cash payment in) or money order in person or by mail.
When I went to pay my insurance premium on my motorcycle after I traded bikes, the local insurance office would not take a 20 dollar bill for the 20 dollar increase on my premium. I said "come again?". The lady said we are not set-up to take cash, just a check or debit card.
Now my truck insurance company(Farm Bureau) will take cash.
Yes...the "cashless" society is coming soon to a location near you!
