While going through some of the old posts I found a reference to a DOVE-A block. They were refered to as being worth a lot or special, but no one ever wrote why. Can someone fill me in on this.
Not all D0VE-A blocks are 4 bolt mains....I have one in the shed that is 2 bolt mains.
But, from my understanding, they were the basic block for the CJ/SCJ and have the thicker main webs and provisions to mount the 4 bolt caps easier than on the later model blocks.
Worth that much more? I doubt it. They are definately worth more than the late 70's and later 460 blocks. A D0VE-A block sold on eBay for $65 plus shipping just this paaast week.
Thanks guys! I was just wondering, because I just tore one apart and getting ready to send it to the machine shop. BTW it is a two bolt main but I also have a 79 truck block (externally balanced) that I am going to dig out and do some visual comparisons
Red, if I was positive I wasn't going to need it here when I tear down this 514 BBF I bought a few months ago, I'd sell it to you right now. I'll keep you in mind when I figure out if I need it or not.
