Pioneer Bluetooth question CD-BTB200
I picked up the Pioneer DEH-P4900IB. I bought it mainly for 3 reason. 1st; Aux input is in the back. I like that. I don't like having cables out the front. I could have kept my Cassette adapter on my old stock ford stereo. Now my XM Roady is neatly connected. 2nd; Plays MP3/WMA at a real good price. 3rd; Has the ability of controlling Bluetooth for my cell phone. Very important to me. I get a lot of calls and prefer a TRUE hands free system instead of just a built in speaker phone.
Here's the question; I've read that pretty much the only bluetooth adapter I can get for this stereo is the Pioneer cd-btb200. I'm fine with that. However, every place I look it mentions that SOME FUNCTIONS MIGHT BE LIMITED when using it with the DEH-P4900IB. I didn't notice that prior to buying the receiver. Personally, I really like the 4900 for the price. Can anyone tell me what features are limited with the 4900 and the cd-btb200??? i'VE Looked on Pioneer and the internet but can't find out what features they are referring to.
My other question is; some reports show the cd-btb200 not being very compatible or friendly with certain cell phones or services. Is this true??? I really like the 4900 and I really want to get a bluetooth adapter for my phone/car. I'd just hate to buy the cd-btb200 and find out that I can't use it. For what it's worth, I have Verizon wireless cell service. My phones (Have more than one) are LG VX8300; LG EnV; Treo 700WX. According to the specs; the cd-btb200 is bluetooth version 1.2 certified. As are the phones. (There's someone posting that there's an incompatibility because phones are version 1.2 and the cd-btb200 is 2.0. According to the manual online, the cd-btb200 is version 1.2.
Anyway; any information would be great. In today's internet shopping capabilities, the convenience has gotten to be nice. Unfortunately, returns are much more difficult and more expensive. So, more research is usually required. And ideas, help, assistance, etc... would be greatly appreicately. Thx.... Mike.....
Does anyone know what limitations the CD-BTB200 will have using it with the Pioneer DEH-P4900IB receiver??? Also; do you know if the CD-BTB200 has issues with certain cell phones or cell services like Verizon. Thx... Mike....
As far as the bluetooth connection goes, you are probably in trouble. Verizon is one of the worst companies out there when it comes to bluetooth. They cripple a lot of bluetooth functions because they want you to pay them to download ringtones, backgrounds, etc. If I was to guess, the Treo 700 should work ok, cause I believe Verizon left it's bluetooth functional, however I think the bluetooth on the tow LG phones will be limited. Most likely you will be able to recieve calls on all of them, but I doubt you will be able to transfer your phone book.
I personally have the Kenwood bluetooth unit for my stereo, and I still haven't got my phone book to transfer from my Motorola Q (from Verizon). I can dial numbers from the head unit, and incoming calls will show the phone number, but I can't dial by name, and names don't show up to match the caller ID. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the phone, or the Kenwood unit.
The other thing I want to be able to do is to dial out. On my bluetooth headset, I can press a button and do voice commands with my verizon cell phone. I can say "DIAL" or "Call"; can't remember at this moment; and I can either say the number or a name in my address book. It will then dial it appropriately. That's with my bluetooth headset. I would think I should be able to do the same with the CD-BTB200. The same button on the headset that I answer/hangup calls with is the same one I press and it says "SAY A COMMAND". If I press the same button on the DEH-P4900IB that is used to answer/hangup a call, will it say "SAY A COMMAND". I don't won't to have to dial out on my cell phone and use the CD-BTB200 ONLY for answering calls.
So basically; I want to be able to answer calls; which It has to be able to do obviously. And I want to be able to use the voice commands to dial out that my phone is capable of doing. I don't care about phone books; contacts; caller ID; any kind of display; etc... Just a bluetooth that mutes the stereo so I know I have a call and that I can voice dial out on. Thanks for any inputs.
1. When a call comes in and the phone is in it's holster or my pocket, have it ring or some other indication over the speakers in the stereo. When I press the answer button on the stereo it should technically go to the bluetooth cell phone source and I should be able to answer the phone. This seems like a common thing for it to do.
2. I want to be able to make outgoing calls. My phone has voice commands, so I should be able to press the connect button on the stereo and hopefully it will act just like my blue tooth headset does and the phone responds with "Say a command". I should then be able to dial out either saying the numbers or one of my contacts.
I don't need address books or any touch screens. Basically, I just want to be able to do with the CD-BTB200 the same thing I can do with my Motorola HS820 bluetooth headset; except be able to hear and speak through the stereo.
Well, I was cautious about ordering one not knowing the limitations. Everyone on ebay was between $100-$130 plus about $10-$15 in S/H. Retail stores wanted closer to $180 for it. A lot to throw out to find it doesn't work. Well, I found a source on the internet who has NEW; NOT refurbished; for $79.99; and now until Valentine's day thy have free shipping. Too good a deal to pass up. So, I guess we'll see in a about a week. Thanks again. Later... Mike....
