Quick Intake Question!

Is the chicken wire mesh thingy on top of the intake needed? I took of my air box today to paint it and its bent up bad and the retaining ring has came off it.

It is a protective item....... some have removed them........BUT if you drop something in the intake it may be gone in a fraction of SECOND..........

Yeah, and the way the runners slope in the intake can you guess where something would stop at?

I bet the probability is 85% or better that it would stop inside the intake port of the head.

The way my luck runs, that probability would increase to 98%.

No kidding, I have a E350 and I drop stuff working on the engine already. The last thing I need is a reason not drop a tool or bolt.
