Hello everyone i am Darrell i have a 92 f superduty 160k miles 7.3 I am going to pull a 44' enclosed trailer and i will be asking many questions here . I have already done a few things to like taking off the flatbed adding fenders mounting a kingpin. It had a new tranmission when i purchased it a local auction.
Yes its a auto with overdrive . The gear selector inside where the ocerdrive button has come off it still works but i cant get it back onbecause of the wires is this a common problem
Yep the overdrive button portion of the overdrive portion of the shifter is a common site for problems. I think the whole shifter handle is about 150 bucks and that is everything new. It's been a while since I did one but I recently rebuilt a column and had to change the shaft the shift handle rides in. It's very easy all you do is pull the trim, pull the tumbler out of the column, pull the column cover, then the disconnect the connector for the overdrive off wire and pull the pin from the handle reassembly is the reverse of removal. I can change one myself in under 15 minutes start to finish. For someone who has never done one I would set yourself over a couple hours to do it right. PM me if you have any questions.
