just pull the y-pipe down and drive around open manifold for just a little bit, see if it helps. If it does, then pull and replace the cats.
The reason I wouldn't gut them out is that intact they're worth about $120 at scrap, tell the shop you want them back and recoup some of your costs. And yes, if you tell them you want your old parts back they are REQUIRED by law to give them back to you. Just be sure to tell them when you drop the truck off.
True I probally should But since Ill have to drive it from repair Facility #1 to Repair Facility# EDs Muffler I should be able to see the diffrence because I told the guy at repair place #1 to leave the exauhst off so Its going to be loud tell I get to eds muffler but at leeast I can tell the diffrence without the pipes clogged. Repair shop #1 wanted almost 600 dollars #2 wanted 400. I can do it myself for 200$ but do not know how to weld.

clamp the new ones in place, then take them to a shop to be welded. if they want to charge you more than $50 they're screwing you over.
And STOCK ones scrap for about $120. aftermarket replacements scrap for about $10. Scrapping the cats and 302 recouped almost 1/2 the purchase price of my 86.
With the price of platinum getting so high, when companies do highway repairs alot of times they'll come through with a scraper and peel up the top 4" of dirt from the shoulder before beginning work to reclaim the platinum.
Your typical mining operation recovers about an ounce of platinum per 100 tons of material mined. a "really good return" is 1oz per 15 tons. Roadside concentrations tend to range from 1 oz/200 tons to 1oz/10 tons but with *no rock breaking*.
I have the same truck. I bought a Magnaflow hi flow converter kit from a performancepeddler.com. It came with a new custom front pipe and the converter. I just checked their web site and they still have the kit at $163.67. The right part number for your truck is 93307. Their shipping was really reasonable and their customer service was outstanding.
