I was replacing the O-rings and gaskets on the oil cooler because the front gasket was leaking. I was gonna leave the O-rings alone cause they weren't leaking but I thought while it was out it might be a good idea, so I take it apart, put the new O-rings in and lube them up good with oil, put it in my shop press and barely start to apply pressure and the end of the oil filter adapter busted before the O-ring seated. $200 mistake, I'm not happy.
I used a wood splitter with the wedge off of it and a fashioned cup on the end of the ram to slowly press the halves back together. Pull the sparkpluig and slowly pull the engine over while holding the lever and it will slowly press it on. Those are beotch, huh?
did you just use the end of the press pushing in the center of the ends.?? them parts are not very strong..you should have a board under both ends..that way it pushes more on the out side edge rather then pressing in the center of the adapters..i did mine in a drill press so i could feel it bottom out when it went together..worked great..i didnt have a wood splitter lol...
