Converting a SRW into a dually

Can anybody offer advice or explain the issues involved in swapping the rear axle off of a 95 F350 2wd dually onto a 97 F350 4x4 srw? I know that the gear ratios need to match (seems obvious). Some have said it may be as easy as bolting the hubs to my srw axle. I have heard others who have said you need to add extensions to the front axles too.

Isn't it true that the front wheels track exactly in the middle of the two tires on the dually rear for handling purposes?

Has anybody out there actually done this conversion? Any and all comments are appreciated.

<-- cool smiley!

From what I know you will need to change out the front hub/add extensions otherwise beyond any handling issues you would have to carry two spare tires. Bout all the info I can give ya. I know on an older IH truck it was as easy as changing rear axles and front hubs.
