I am proud to announce my dad got rid of his Hemi!! He now has in his possesion an 03 F-250 Crew Cab Shortbed FX4 With a 6.0 Diesel The 5 Speed Automatic & the ESOF T-Case. Ford did adjust the PCM In 05. Oh Yeah the truck has 87k on it. My question is that I've heard to wait till 100k before you strait-pipe them. I want to only cut the muffler out & put a piece of flex tubing like they use on semi trucks. I want to retain the rest of the exhaust. I have heard not to cut the cat out beacause this will void the extended warranty. Is any of this true & has anybody else done this? If so, do they have any sound clips to share?
Any help would be great. This is Dad's first diesel & the first 6.0 I've been around. Thanks
My son wanted to do that to a F-750 I had years ago, and after my son and I sat down and talked about it, he decided to join the USMC. In the USMC he learned to be a mechanic, technician.

The only reason I have thought about doing this is because I have heard that you can gain some extra ponies. I don't want anything too terribly loud as I am deaf in one ear already.

You should ask this type of stuff in the 6.0 forum. There's a lot more people that stay over there that could help you with stuff like this. Extra ponies...nope. Just lower EGTs and less turbo lag due to less backpressure. Head over there (6.0L), lots off great stuff.
Actually, straight pipes on a Power Stroke aren't as loud as you might imagine.
Very true. Mines loud at full throttle and STILL not as loud as a buddy of mine's straight true duals on his 5.4 Triton. Some people like straight pipes on diesels for the HISSS...of the turbo.
