107,760 the exhaust has been replaced from the cat back
but when i just give it a little gas it really takes off
one of my friends says it has something to do with knocking noise coming from the back of the head

doubtful. what kind of knocking noise is it? these aren't the quietest running motors to begin with. you might have a throttle position sensor acting up.

i was told the knocking noise is from no oil at start up and it goes away when the motor warms up
i hope its not the throttle position sensor cause i am used to work on older trucks were you can see everything. i wouldn't no were to begin on the motor

the throttle position sensor is i believe up on the throttle body. the knocking is probably piston slap that goes away when the engine heats up and the piston/rings expand.

Have seen a few air filter cones come off and get sucked up against the front of the mass air.

the tornado won't cause anything, especially power and fuel mileage increases ! he's saying the cone comes off the air filter and blocks your inlet to the sensor off. That cap isn't small enough to get into the maf sensor to cause any damage to the element. If you have the tornado, it probably didn't even get that far.

i don't know that its the cone, as i haven't personally seen it happen, but you could use a scanner with freeze frame data to see if the tps is reading correctly. When you stepped on the gas hard, did it feel like it kind of stumbled and then took off?
