Belt recommendation

I am planning on replacing the serpentine belt on my 2000 4.6 with 90k miles. What is the general consensus on belt Brand? Should I go with the factory part, or an aftermarket such as the goodyear gatorback?

Thanks for the feedback

Ron

I have had good luck with the Gatorback belts myself. But, if the Motorcraft belt went 90K, then it's pretty good too.

don't know how much the gatorback is but i put motorcrafts on my trucks cuz they seem pretty reasonably priced, and the one on my F150 lasted about 200,000mi. i think i pay about $45 for motorcraft at the dealership.

Gatorback all the way, I paid around $35 for mine but that is getting to be 3 years ago or more.

My motorcraft lasted 10 years and 200,000mi, and i only changed it out of prevention. I'd also change out your idler pulleys and check your fan clutch for play. Also check the rest of your pulleys for play. I figure the idler pulleys are only like $15 bucks each, and if i remember right your 4.6 only has one correct? These pulleys will develop ridges and flaws on the surface and could cause your belt to wear out quicker.
