Broken motor mount?

Broken motor mount?
1989 F150 4.9 with 5speed 121K
While teaching my son to drive standard shift the clutch and accelerator got out of synch and we got into a pretty heavy "lurching" mode.
A minute later he said the truck was getting hard to steer. We stopped and the hose between the power steering pump and the solid line had been pulled free resulting in a good coating of power steering fluid all over the surrounding area.
I assumed the motor mount had failed as it certainly felt like that big 6 was flopping around under the hood during the lurching.
I have placed a floor jack under the oil pan and gently applied some lift. The motor mounts seem secure and marking them shows that they are not seperating as I apply additional pressure.
It would seem that it has to be a defective motor mount to allow the engine enough movement to pull that power steering line.
Is there a better way to check for a defective motor mount or does anyone have a similiar experience to share?

if it seems like the motor is really moving def look at them and get it fixed.... I was coming down a hill at my farm and the motor mounts were worn out and the big mount that holds in the radiator was rusted out and I hit a bump and the rest is history.... The fan jumped into the radiator........ YEAH IT SUCKED......

motor mount was broken
The driver's side motor mount was broken. It became apparent when I applied the brakes, gave it a little throttle and releashed the clutch just past the friction point.
Picked one up locally and installed it this afternoon- not to bad to change out after loosening the nuts on the transmission mount and using a jack on the driver's side bottom edge of the block.
