Perhaps none of those items were your problem in the first place. May be time to look elsewhere. I am stumped for now. Scratching my head about what would cause the PCM to let the ICP demanded fall that low. Is your truck chipped?

It is programmed with a edge evelution on the tow setting.
I got the truck started on the first crank it was making 1000psi then went up, it started after about 6-7 revelutions. It started missing then cleared up in a couple of minutes at high idle. I tried to run a cylider contribution test but i got a code of injection pressure over/under desired. I kicked it off high idle and it died. Tried to start it back up and could not get over 200psi on hpop unhooked icp and got 1900 but would not start, I couldn't get 200rpm batteries were dead. I think i need new ones only a year old die hard truck batteries.
thanks for any suggestions

Well, if you can, charge the batteries and try again. If still no love, then unload the tuner from the PCM and try again. 1900 ICP ought to start it with ease.

You never did say what the ICP duty cycle was doing when the pressure was dropping. Did you get a chance to check it? Do you by any chance have anyone local who could trade PCM's with you long enough to test a different one in your truck. It only takes 15 minutes to change it.

I could not figure out how to do a ICP duty cycle test. I might just be able to get my hands on a PCM but I do not know where it is located and how to change it out. Any help would be appreciated

What codes and readings did you have before you did all this work?

I was getting the codes that the injector control pressure out of range. I was having problems with the lpop making pressure after I started the pickup. I would have to rev the motor to 1500 rpm as soon as it started to get the lpop to make pressure. I was also having problems keeping the hpop above 500psi when idling.

I am still having problems keeping the hpop above 500. When I let off the throttle it will drop to 350 then build up quickly to 550-600 and stay there. I finally got it started today and it idled fine except every once in a while it would stuble and miss then it would clear up. When it was missing the icp duty cycle would go up to 14 and the hpop would go down to 600. When it quit missing the hpop would settle at 900 and the icp dc would settle to 4.86 and stay there and idle well with no missing for many minutes then it would miss for 5-20 second then clear up again for 5-10 minutes. The icp duty cycles seems to go way up in the 20s then go down.

When trying to restart after a stallout I got the hpop to 1800 the engine to 170rpm and the icp to 28.5 still no start. I tried unplugging the icp still no start.

I let the engine sit for 5 minute then it started right up.

thanks

I have a 99 F250. I am getting ready to pull my PCM. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but it is under your dash in front of the emergency brake. Pop the hood and remove the 3 cables feeding it. They are held on with a 10mm bolts. Then unscrew the 2 bolts on the PCM bracket from the inside and pull out.

Be careful of what you put in. They are not all interchangable. Make sure it is for your truck.

When I changed mine, there was 1 10MM bolt on the engine side which removed the wiring harness and two bolts on the inside that released the PCM from its brackets. It is really easy to take out. When putting back in, be carfull to align the harness plug and the bolt has to be screwed all the way in. I tried to start it with the harness "plugged in" and it wouldn't start. Evidently the contacts don't make up until the harness is all the way in.

Powerfarmer, it sounds like something else besides HPO is your problem. I would try borrowing another PCM at see if your issues go away. If you can't find one, I would be willing to let you borrow my original early 99 PCM for the test. PM me if you need it.

I was wondering if there is any other way to check the pcm other than by taking it out and putting in a different one.

Remember to leave the keys to the truck in the house when changing the PCM.

if the key is in the ignition and you try to reinstall the PCM it will cook the board.

I am thinking that maybe you have a small piece of trash not letting the edge filter(of the HPOP) completely cycle. Look here, and dowload the High Pressure pump guide (scroll down to bottom of page)

Well I thought the truck was fixed. I put in about 150 miles 80 pulling a trailer. After I got home I let the truck idle for a while then it died it was late so I left it off and went to bed. Next morning tried to start the truck and it started fine. Shut the truck off and took the batteries in to get replaced both were bad got to new batteries free of charge installed the batteries the truck started again fine. Let it idle for a while then it died know I cannot get it started again. I cannot get the high pressure oil to maintain 500 it fluxuates wildly then goes below 300 and dies. Thinking it might be PCM any other ideas appriciated.

thanks

Look at the link I put in the post above your last. download the Hpop technician guide. it details some pinpoint tests. I am doubting the PCM is bad if it from time to time keeps cranking and running. have you checked for chaffed wires over the drivers valve cover? in the steering column?

Well the ICP dropping to 350 once you let off and then erratically jumping around while idling leads me to believe that your Injection Pressure Regulator (IPR) is sticking, which is causing all of the problems. If it wouldn't hold pressure to start one time, but then held 1900psi another time, what else could it be?
