Ventilation on 429

I just put a open element air cleaner on my 429 and was wondering if I should have the hose that joins to the oil cap connected to the new air cleaner or could i use the twist in type cap that has apparently no ventilation? Will it harm the engine at all if I keep the closed cap on or is it in my best interest that I hook up the hose to the air cleaner? any help is appreciated

you are going to need ventilation either way If you hook the hose back to the cleaner or if you get a oil filler cap with a breather built in. Its bad business to run a pcv system with out fresh air

Ventilation on 429

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-Apr-02 AT 11:30 PM (EST)]The PCV valve will do it's job without the oil cap hose. I had the vent style cap like you're talking about on a few engines. Problem is, it gets oil all over your valve cover from the little bit of vapor that comes out the vent. I like my stuff clean, so I went back to the hose going from a chrome vented oil cap to the air cleaner. Looks much better.
