You want cubes?! Start with the 429/460 Block, it's hardly any heavier than that 390, then put a 514 Stroker crank in it. Throw on a good intake and carb, get some nice headers, find a good pair of heads for your application, and you'll have torque up the yang, and more horses than you'll know what to do with. And if that's not the way you want to go, stick to the 460. They make anything you could possibly want for it.

Dumb question but... If you put the 514 crank in, do you have to bore the engine (0.030 or 0.060 or whatever) over to get 514 cubes of displacement, or will just the crank change do it?

I'm pretty sure the crank does it all by itself, without any boring. I've heard of guys with 521's, because they had to bore out the cylinders and ended up with a slightly larger engine.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-May-02 AT 01:03 PM (EST)]Now Im curious as to wether different companies do it diffirent now. PAW sells a 521 Ford, that has a 4.15" stroke which with out boring would give you 496 ci, but they oversized the bore .110" which to get the 521. This engines made for one purpose in life and thats racing. I'll look around some more for some numbers from other companies so we can compare.
Hope this helps
