Best shop manual
What shop manual would you recommend?
I recently bought a 1993 f350 diesel and need to buy a detailed manual.Generic after market ones don't provide the level of detail I want.Is there a good source?My manuals for Case,Massey Ferguson or Harley factory manuals provide excellent detailed mechanical drawings,instruction and schematics.Would like to have something similar for the IDI.

You can search ebay for a CD or try to get a set of Shop Manuals from

I have the 1993:
Bronco/F150-F350, Fsuperduty electrical and vacuum troubleshooting manual
F150/250/350, Econoline, Bronco and Sduty.... Body and Chassis manual and the Powertrain and Drivetrain manual
The one I should have purchased 14 years ago for $100 was the Powertrain Control/emissions diagnostic shop manual set........ now $320
Any engine specific manuals may be of value..........
I do have the wiring diagrams but they need a table to rest them on and a week to follow the wireing schematic from page to page.

I just bought yesterday a 7.3 IDI engine manual for 25 dollars off of ebay. It has not yet arrived but it has 65 pages of info and adjustments for this engine. The auction still has 2 more left for a buy it now price. Look a the table of contents (he has a picture of the actual book) and see if theres anything you would be interested in. If you want to look at it go to ebay.com and past this auction number in the search field 180184666234 The page name is (Ford 7.3 IDI DIESEL Diagnostics, Settings 1994 Nonturbo) This will take you stright too it. It says its for the 1994 7.3 non turbo but 1993 and eairlier should be the same..

Will bid on that one.
All the other manuals I own are dog eared and grease stained.For me pulling a wrench is half the fun of owning a vehicle.
Just purchased a IDI with 200k and plan to use it for 10+ years like the other Ford truck I work.All the info on this forum made me buy the IDI.Dependable,easy to work on and cheap parts.My kind of truck!!!!!!

I work for an independent shop. We have Mitchell on-demand 5 and Alldata which is the old Motor manuals. The rep says that Mitchell buys and reprints the actual manufactures manuals where Motor compiles there own data anyhow Motor is easier to get around in and to find common problems if you have a code it will tell you the common checks but if you have an odd problem Motor doesn't have the detailed info like Mitchell, which has a detailed flow chart for most codes(circuit resistance, circuit voltage etc)
These are the only two I'm familiar with I have some older motor manuals I can't afford Mitchell, but I was just on there site and they sell online subscriptions for any vehicle. If it includes their full database that mite be the way to go. Check it out if you like http://www.eautorepair.net/
