i want to run these with pipes out beside the front tires no muffler no cats, i also found some efi maifolds for like 40 dollars but none of the pluming seems like the full length headers would be better.
I am running that particular set of headers on my 84 F150 4x4. So far overall I am very happy with them, the only thing I am not too crazy about is the ball type collector flanges. I had a difficult time getting them to stay tight, I did however find a cure for the problem. I installed longer bolts with stiff stainless steel springs on them and used jam nuts, they work great. No muffs or cats? Do you have any idea how loud that is going to be? I ran mine with open headers a couple times... whew sounds mean, almost demonic!
Oh I don't know if I could give you actual numbers as far as performance gains. But it was very noticeable: much more low end torque, snappier throttle response, better acceleration, more upper rpm power. The header combined with the Offy intake and Holley 2bbl carb really woke up my 300, and I gained a couple mpg from it also. Headers are most definately worth it IMO.
Awesome. Which truck feels the best, now? The 1984 or the 1996? I know it's hard to say, really, since one is a 4spd and one is a 5spd.. Well, what kind of 4-speed do you have? NP435? Or one with OD?
would headers on a efi motor have the same gains? dont mean to jack your post or anything but wondering im 15 so i dont know a whole lot about that kid of thing.
