03 Ex Backup Sensors

I've got both an 03 Ex and a 03 F-250; both with back up sensors. Bought the PU new and the EX just recently. I love the sensor system on the F-250, but the Ex almost acts as if it doesn't work, i.e does not start beeping when it obviously should. However, I can cover each sensor, one at a time with a broom, and the sensor system will beep for each sensor. It's almost like the sensor system is not "focused" or is not working together or is somehow weak. Looking at the sensors, it does not appear to me that they can be aimed or adjusted in any direction similar to how you would adjust a headlight so I assume their positioning is fixed.

Any thoughts as to possible trouble spots? Is there some sort of norm to which the system should function, i.e. if I put a large cardboard box XX feet behind the vehicle, when should the sensors pick it up?

I have read the threads on this forum with respect to the sensor system, but those discuss systems that don't work at all, or that the sound is hosed up. I have not seen a concern similar to this.

My Excursion sensors seem to work perfect, or at least what I would call perfect. They will first beep when I get about 4 feet from something. The closer I get, the faster the sensors beeps. By the time you get within 12" of whatever, they are beeping so fast you know you better stop. Hope this helps.

I've had problems in the past with the sensors getting dirty. Try cleaning them, it can't hurt

Are the PU and he X different heights and maybe the PU is in the 'sweet spot' of the sensors, and one isnt?
