My pops just bought a 2007 ford f-250 diesel with 3.73 gears 2wd. It now has 3000 miles on it. We filled up before we took a trip to richmond. I drove down the highway 70 mph up and down small hills in the rain with the wind howling. Drove with a lead foot going around town in richmond. Drove back going 70. All together it was about 30 miles of city driving and 170 highway miles. I filled up when i got back and average 24 MPG. Im not sure what these trucks normally get but that sounds good for a 3/4 ton pick up. My 92 f-350 diesel wit 4.11 gears gets about 15 at best.
Great MPG but it might have been your fill up. I can get in at least 3 more gallons after it auto shuts off somethimes more. IMO If you don't fill it to the same place every time it's not accurate...Good Luck.

I concur. I thought I was doing really well, until I realized that in addition to different stations (Citgo, TA) fill up differently, different pumps at the same station also have differences (flow rate, etc.). These manifest themselves as upwards of +/- 1 MPG in calculation, if not more.
In these cases, before jumping to conclusions regarding mileage, it's best to run an average over 3-5 tanks of fuel.
Ya and dont forget about foaming. If you wait for the foam to subside you can fit another 1-2 gallons. Its -3* with the windchill here today so i dont think ill be waiting for the foam!
