hey fella's,
I have a 93 F150, and was just wondering how to install a CB radio in my truck and also how to/where to mount the radio and antenna? thanks for all the help.
Wiring power for the CB is easy - I'd mount it under the dash and attach the wires to the back of the cigarette lighter - so it's avaiable for use whether your truck is running or not. If you angle it appropriately you can see the display and ***** easily enough with a mere glance.
The antenna can mount on your roll bar, roof, bedside, or rear bumper using a variety of mounting methods. Just a matter of deciding where you want it.

Exactly, power it from behind a cig lighter, and mount it wherever it fits. Its hard for us to tell you where it would go well without seeing any pics. As for your antenna, you can get a mirror mount from any CB shop and just use half of it to mount on a bed stake support on the bed, or drill ahole in the bumper, magnetic roof mount.. possibilites are endless.
When i mounted mine, i bolted it below the cubby hole next to the ash tray. For power i bought a cigarette lighter adapter incase i ever wanted to use the cb in another vehicle it would be real quick to switch out. For the antenna i mounted it on the side of my truck box using a piece of aluminum angle and ran the wire between the cab and the bed and up through the grommets in the floor down along the door seal (under the carpet) and up to the cb. I can get pictures of my setup if you want.
Sound great. Mount the antenna wherever you want, or like the looks. BUT the mounting PLACE will effect the pattern of the signal slightly. (for instance> mounting in the center of the rear (steel) bumper will make a stronger signal to the front - mounting it in the center of the front (steel) bumper will make a stronger signal to the rear - mounting it near the center/rear of the cab will make a better all-around signal. Twin antennas are mostly for looks unless you drive a LARGE truck. 10-4
