Hey...I suppose I will have to investigate sooner or later, but thought I would post and ask anyway.
Now I don't really use it anyway, but would like to appy the e-brake occasionally to keep it from siezing...since you never know when you might need it. When I bought the truck a few months ago...the peddle went right to the floor like there was a broken cable somewhere. I knew it would be something I would fix, but since it's and automatic...I wasn't overly concerned. Then one day I noticed that I did work though it was very hard and could only go about halfway down and didn't seem to be all that effective. Today it went to the floor without effort....I released it and tried again. This time it was stiff again but same deal....half way and not overly effective...though it did work somewhat.
Any thought folks?.....
Should I investigate this sooner rather than later?
Normally I would just pull the wheel and deal with it...but right now it's minus 12 celcius with windchill and I have no garage yet... so will wait if I can.
Appreciate any input,
Dave
Id look into some of the cables being frozen, there is a sorta self adjuster in the ebrake pedal assembly. I broke the one that goes from the ebrake pedal to the back where it splits 2 the left and right drum. Well when i tried to get the new cable on it wouldnt fit, 2 short. So i got 1 longer from the extended cab short bed. My truck is a 133" WB and the ec sb is 136". But that cable was just tight when the ebrake pedal was all the way down. So that wasnt right. Well i returned all the lines except the one I got from Ford as i got it when I broke it and lost the bag and everything. Well I went to junk yard and got the rear adjuster from the pre 91 style. So that worked fine. But anyway when I was testing it out I went down to ck the tension and when I pulled on the line, it moved out. Went into the cab it was like a reel in the ebrake pedal assembly that was giving out freeplay. So i got the cable hooked up with the stock splitter and it works now. So id unhook all ur cables and see if 1 or however many is frozen. Start with that then look at the pedal assemble, that freeplay adjuster might be giving out on ya.
I remember there was a "Parking Brake" recall on my '94 F150. You might want to check & see it applies to your truck, and if the work was ever performed. I'd think you could call a dealer with your VIN and they could find out for you. Might be you could get it fixed for free?
Yes there is a recall with the parking break. The pedal will miss the ratchet or miss some teeth and go to the floor. You need to have the pedal shimmed. Mine does it sometimes, but not that oftem and i use mine everyday

That would make sense.....
Given the year of the truck though.....Not likely it would still be covered.....would it?
If not...could I buy the parts somewhere it fix myself?
I believe the recalls never expire. The dealer will perform any recall service free of charge for the life of the vehicle.
I just did a recall search on this site and there is only one for my 94 ....is there another place to look? I also went to this site and it tells me I've entered incorrect Vin....but this is indeed the vin.
