I lived in Phoenix, Az for 7 years, and my Superduty still has caked mud under it, and I haven't lived there for 3 years now.
Iowa's mud is similar. I had a buddy in high school that borrowed his dads Blazer one Friday night. We took it out to a low maintence road and tore it up for a while. Then came back to town and gave it a bath. But we forgot to clean in one very important spot. The next morning, my buddies dad woke him up and handed him a shovel in bed and told him to go clean the mud off the drive. Needless to say, the outside and fender wells where nice and clean, but the frame rails where packed full. So when it dried out it all fell off and onto the drive way. Since then we have always made it a point to try a hose off everything.
