Just picked up an '05 Crewcab longbed V10/Torqshift truck to replace the old '98 F150. Looking to upgrade the in-dash single disc CD with either a CD6 or possibly a MP3 CD deck. i've seen the CD6 as an option on the superdutys, but not the MP3 deck-does anybody know if the MP3 CD6 that's in some of the newer models with work properly in my truck? It's a Lariat package truck and has the radio controls on the steering wheel, and I'd really like all of that to stay functional.

I've been keeping my eyes open for the MP3 / CD6 player as well, but for the money they sell for, I would rather upgrade to a Pioneer Avic D3. All you need to look out for is that the antenna plug changed on the '07 and you would need an adapter. The '05 and '06 have the same plug. Other than an adapter required on the newer models for the antenna, all the wiring is the same to my knowledge. Steering wheel controls shouldn't make a difference, your harness that plugs into the radio just probably uses a couple more wires.
There are some MP3 CD6 models on ebay once in awhile, the same radios that fit the F250/F350 also have the same mounts as the Focus and Freestar.
The in dash 6 CD/MP3 from the F-150's work also. They can be had on ebay for 100-200.00
When I checked on this, the mounts are different on the F150 than the Super Duty. Do you know this from personal experience? Have you tried one and can the mounts be changed? They look the same from the front, but the mounts are different and I don't know if the case has the holes in the same place for the mounts as the F250/F350. As far as I know the same goes for the Mustang radios, look the same, but mounts are in different places than the Super Duty, Focus, and Freestar.
I have a stock 6 CD unit from a 2003 you can have if you want it - brand new condition. Does not play mp3s though. The 03 did not have steering wheel controls though so I am not sure if they would still work for you...

I'm willing to try it-sent you a PM about it.

edit...After doing some checking...doesn't look like the '03 models will work properly at all.

You can pick up a Shaker 500 radio out of a Mustang that will play MP3s w/6 CD on Ebay for around 100-200. There is a tread, search for Shaker 500 mod. All you will need is the two brackets off of your stock radio.

I think you may be mistaken here, unless you are talking about satellite antenna. I know for a fact my 99 F250 and my 07 F350 both had the same AM/FM antenna, because I have had my Kenwood DDX-6019 installed in both of them without any adapters. Maybe you mean the 08 Super Duty, as I have not worked on a stereo in them yet so the antenna could be different.
I wonder if they made a change part way through '07 or the models I saw for sale may have been out of an '08 because they definitely had a different antenna jack on the back of the radio.
The stereos out of mustangs, f 150's, focus , and freestars changed for 07 and have a different ant. plug along with some other operating changes. The superdutys are the last vehicles that Ford updates the stereos on.
Any of the ford mp3 stereos from 05-06 should work in an 05-07 superduty.
I had a shaker 500 from a 2005 mustang in my 05 for awhile and everything worked except the dimmer control and I had to drill 2 holes in order to mount the superduty brackets on it.
I have a CD-6 MP3 factory radio out of an 04 f-150 that I mistakedly bought off ebay thinking it would fit in my 04 Superduty. I paid $85 with shipping, so if anybody wants it for that plus shipping to your house, send me a pm.

i took my ford 6 disc in dash from my 2005 super duty out for a custom - pm if you want it - also stock speakers if any of yours are blown - they are not good to begin with.
I have a 06 F250, I just put in this last Sat. a 08 F150 6 disc mp3 in. The brackets are different so after pondering, I spun the bracket around on the '08 The holes didn't line up where my '06 bolted but there is other holes..1 leftside bottom & 1 rtside bottom and a vertical slot for the rt. top. I used machine screws that fit tight in the holes & they tighten the unit down find when wrenched tight. You can drill a pilot hole for the top lt. hole & do the same. Now the '08 had a different antennna plug but I just went to a lil' car radio shop & got an adapter. Using "Nero" music software (windows media would work too) I made a CD (mp3 format) with about 8 abulms on it & it worked just fine...I'll be able to get my whole music collection on 6 cds & never have to exchange Cds again
P.S. I got the radio off ebay for $114 total
Hope this helps, bulldog
