where is the best place to get replacement positive and negative cables for a 2000 f 350 7.3 , I checked w/my local dealer and it was like 400. for 3 cables , I was like WOW. If I could get some help that would be great thanks, Ron
Go to your local INTERSTATE batteries wharehouse, the have the complete positive side for $80 (just replaced mine in nov.) you can have the neg sides made up there for about $20 -$25 each
I would rather find the proper parts at a reasonable price than to make something work
Battery cables are nothing more than a certain type of wire (guage/strand). If you can get a better deal at a marine shop or electrical house then there's nothing wrong with that. You would just need to put ends on the cable you bought.
What's the reason you have to replace all your cables? If it is related to corrosion then maybe the upgraded ends put on a custom cable would be a better route. I'm not a big fan of the thin, cheap looking connectors they put on vehicles today.

Ray (rbaker) was kind enough to give me this info so I thought I would forward. I also have cables that are going down the crapshoot (worn out connectors) but haven't gotten around to purchasing new one's yet.
I get my cables made up at a local starter alternator shop. They are alway reasonable and the finished product looks like it was factory. Just call around to starter shops and battery suppliers.
Warning,, Today I had a slow start but it did start. After full warm up I checked the charging system that verified ok. So I decided to clean the battery cables. What a job. corroded in place. Had to use a grinder to get one of the bolts out to remove the cable (Ok,, No sparks of course due to hydrogen risk). Fan used etc.
After fighting to get all 4 cables off, cleaning drilling out the hole to 5/16 and replacing bolts with new bolts it started up normally. The cold start tomorrow will answer if it needs new batteries. So check your cables and clean the bolts to prevent the hassel I had today.
I had cables made out of 3/0 guage wire at my local interstate batteries shop. The bill for that was $112 for one positive and two negative cables. Fit perfect.
i went to my local interstate battery shop today and they replaced my terminals w/heavy duty ones and put eyelets on my cables and fixed my problem for under 60.00. That was awesome and I wanted to thank everyone for all your suggestion's , Thanks, Ron
