my gear selector goes into park when the selector is on neutral then on down the line until 1st when it hits my leg it stops lol
does it need to be replaced or is it a adjustment thing
also the turn signal doesn't say in place i have to hold it to keep them on
its a tilt wheel if that matters

Reason: forgot to add stuff
A friend told me that I need to put the trans in park then adjust the linkage to make the selector match the trans. Is this the right way?
The column is tight and in good shape
Thats pretty much how you do it. That will get you very close to where it needs to be. Once you do that, chock the wheels, set the parking brake, put the needle where N is on the column, and try to start it. If the truck starts, and still is in neutral, you are good to go, providing it still points correctly in park as well. If not, more fine tuning is in order.
(DOOH, I just remembered, the neutral start switch for this year is on the trans, not the column, so when you are adjusting things, just adjust the linkage till the pointer suits your fancy.)

Is it sloppy or do you feel the indents while moving the shifter ?
Without pulling it towards you..it should only go to 2nd.
